The first joint Africa-EU GNSS management meeting, organized in the context of the implementation of the Infrastructure Partnership of the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership has been held in Brussels, Belgium, on 14-15 April 2011, and has been jointly organized by the African Union Commission and the European Commission.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss elements related to the provision of satellite navigation services (SBAS) over the African continent, including technical aspects, related service provision schemes, liability and certification issues, and organization of the work.
Participants invited represent all African Regional Economic Communities (ECCAS, COMESA, SADC, EAC, ECOWAS, UMA, CEN-SAD), UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and African stakeholders in aviation (AFRAA, ASECNA, ATNS, NAMA, Roberts FIR).
